This exhilarating journey combines a portion of the Annapurna Base Camp trek and its Gurung villages, with the famous viewpoint of Poon Hill and the entire west side of the world-renowned Annapurna Circuit. The Kali Gandaki Valley Trek offers insight into the traditional lifestyles of magnificently set villages, spectacular mountain views and a hike along an ancient trading route. The main destination of is Muktinath Temple, a pilgrimage site for Hindus and Buddhists, set at the foot of the high mountains in a starkly beautiful landscape. The Kali Gandaki Valley has long been a favorite of trekkers in the Annapurna Region and the wide diversity in flora and fauna, rich cultural traditions and mountain views makes it an unforgettable experience that will be cherished for a lifetime. The whole journey is full of natural and cultural wonders and will leave you yearning for more.
After a tour of the highlights of Kathmandu, we visit the lakeside city of Pokhara and make a short, scenic drive to Phedi. From here the trekking begins as we hike up through lush forests to Dhampus, a beautiful village along a ridge top with a spectacular panorama of the Himalaya. We then travel through more forests and over a ridge into the Modi River Valley. We will follow this valley through scenic landscape and traditional Gurung Villages of Landruk and Ghandruk. We then climb through dense forests to Ghorepani and the highly acclaimed viewpoint of Poon Hill. From here, we drop into the Kali Gandaki Valley and deepest gorge in the world between Dhaulagiri, the world’s seventh highest peak and Annapurna I, the world’s 8thhightest. The trek heads northward up the Kali Gandaki through splendid diversity in terrain. We pass the headquarters of Mustang District at Jomsom and then head up an arid side valley to the revered, ancient temple of Muktinath. This is the climax of our journey. We enjoy the picturesque surroundings before retracing our steps back to Jomsom for a flight back for a day of relaxation and entertainment at the tourist paradise of Pokhara!
