About Trip:

The Langtang Valley is a popular trekking destination and for very good reason! The journey travels up to a pristine, remote valley surrounded by towering peaks. This valley, referred to as The Valley of Glaciers, is considered sacred to Buddhist culture and free of the problems of the world.

This thrilling trek is famous for its astonishing Himalayan scenery and beauty. It is a relatively more gently hike than the other popular regions but the rewards are just as magnificent. The highest settlement that we reach is called, Kyangin Gompa, with a renowned monastery that is very active during local festivals. The breathtaking journey up the valley travels through dense groves of rhododendron (Nepal’s national flower), bamboo, birch, pine and eventually juniper. Along the way, we pass splendid waterfalls and have a chance at see the local wildlife including the Red Panda native to this area. We eventually reach highland meadows with exhilarating views all around!
The journey starts with a picturesque drive from Kathmandu, through the rural villages and fertile hills. We then begin our trek from Syabrubesi, a town at the confluence of the BhoteKosi and Langtang rivers. The route follows the Langtang Khola through lush jungle up idyllic mountain meadows and the astonishing Tamang village of Langtang. We continue to Kyangin Gomba with a monastery, cheese factory and snowy peaks towering above it all. We take a day to explore the glorious surrounding terrain and then make our way back down the valley. On our way back, we take a side route through more scenic villages to the astonishing settlement of Sing Gompa. This village has marvelous views, a cheese factory and a monastery. We descend through pine forests to the road for a pleasant ride back to Kathmandu.

People with more time might consider the Gosaindkund and Helambu trek itinerary. We will be happy to arrange everything to suit your needs for these treks and much more!

Note: After exploring the Langtang Valley there is much more to do in Nepal. If you are interested in other activities such as tours of Pokhara and Lumbini, paragliding, rafting, canyoing, jungle safaris and more then we will be happy to arrange it all for you as a follow-on to this trek.
